2. THE "PERSPECTIVE" RULE

How to View Your Art

A tattoo's beauty depends on your viewing distance
  • The Scale Factor: Large tattoos with thick outlines are designed to be seen from across a room. Your eye needs distance to resolve the details.
  • The Fine-Line Reality: Because fine-line tattoos are often smaller and more delicate, people tend to stare at them from just centimeters away. At that "micro-distance," every natural skin pore and tiny fluctuation looks amplified.
  • The 1-Meter Test: Step back! A tattoo is meant to be part of your body's overall aesthetic. If it looks beautiful from a natural standing distance (1 meter), it is a successful tattoo. No art is designed to be scrutinized under a magnifying glass.

3. THE TWO-PASS RULE

Why We Prioritize Skin Health

A clean fine-line tattoo is a delicate balance. We limit ourselves to a maximum of two passes per line.

Why We Limit the Number of Passes:

  • Microscopic Precision: Fine-line details are incredibly small, requiring a high degree of control over the depth and flow of the ink.
  • Preventing "Ink Migration": If we attempt to make a line look "perfectly solid" by overworking it, we lose control over how the pigment spreads within the dermis.
  • Avoiding Permanent Damage: Over-tattooing leads to unnecessary skin trauma, which is the primary cause of two major issues: blurring and blowouts.
  • Choosing Integrity Over "Instant" Results: We prioritize long-term skin health over achieving a heavy, dark look during the session that may not age well.

Our Safety-First Philosophy:

  • The "Soft" Healing Goal: It is always safer to let a tattoo heal with a slightly softer appearance than to risk ruining the line by over-applying ink in a single session.
  • Future-Proofing Your Art: A minor touch-up on a healed tattoo is a simple and effective fix; however, a blown-out or traumatized line is permanent.
  • Long-Term Clarity: By respecting the skin's limits today, we ensure your fine-line art stays sharp and defined for years to come.

3. THE SCIENCE OF RED INK

Beauty & Complexity

Red ink is not traditionally designed for fine outlines.

Red ink is a stunning choice for minimalist designs, but it behaves very differently from traditional black ink. To ensure you love your result, it is important to understand the "science" and the artist's process behind the pigment.

Why Red Ink is Unique

  • Pigment Density: Unlike black lining ink, which is formulated for fluid and crisp movement, red pigment is naturally denser and less fluid.
  • The Custom Blend: To create delicate outlines, we must carefully blend the red pigment with a specialized mixing solution.
  • Reduced Visibility during the Session: Red ink presents a unique challenge for the artist: as we work, the tattooed area naturally becomes red due to increased blood flow. This makes it much harder to see the exact saturation of the pigment in real-time compared to black ink.
  • Less Predictability: Between the necessary thinning of the ink and the reduced visual control during application, red ink is significantly less predictable under the skin than black ink.

The "Scattered" Healed Result

Choosing red ink means embracing a specific aesthetic. Because of the factors mentioned above, the final healed look is:

  • Naturally Scattered: Rather than a solid, "stamped" line, red ink tends to settle with a more scattered, dispersed look under the skin.
  • Sketch-like in Appearance: This scattering creates a beautiful, organic effect that resembles a natural sketch or a mark on the skin.
  • Intentionally Nuanced: The result is a unique, soft character that is a hallmark of the red palette, looking more like a part of the body than a rigid graphic.

Artist’s Note: We absolutely love the red ink aesthetic! We simply want our clients to choose it for its unique, scattered character rather than expecting it to behave with the same rigid, high-contrast look that black ink provides.

5. UNDERSTANDING TOUCH-UPS & FINE-LINE HEALING

We want you to have realistic expectations for your new art. Every skin type reacts differently to ink.

  • The "Healed Look": Fine-line and minimalistic tattoos have a specific look once healed. They often do not look like solid, "stamped" outlines—this is completely normal for tattoos in general and simply more noticeable on delicate work.
  • Red Ink & Minimalist Trends: This is especially relevant for red ink tattoos, which are very popular right now. Red outlines naturally have a less "solid" look than black ones. Please prepare for this aesthetic.

Touch-Up Policy

1. Complimentary Touch-Up

We offer one free touch-up for up to 2 years after your tattoo was completed. This includes a fix of specific faded elements rather than a full refreshing of the entire tattoo.

Exclusions:

  • High-Wear Placements: Tattoos on the lower wrist (closest to the hand), hands, fingers, palms, ears, face, feet, and lower ankles are prone to fading. While these usually heal fine, we cannot offer free touch-ups for these specific areas due to the nature of the skin there.
  • Skin Condition & Sun Exposure: Free touch-ups do not apply to tattoos done on aged skin, sunburned skin, relatively fresh scars, or skin affected by psoriasis.

The "Bali Factor": We strongly advise against sun exposure for 1–3 weeks before your session. Even if there is no redness, tanned skin is tougher and has a "defense structure" that significantly affects the healing process of fine-line work.

2. International "Traveler’s Insurance"

As almost all our customers are tourists and may not be able to return to Bali for a touch-up, we offer a money-back option so you can have it fixed where you are currently located.

  • The Refund: This is limited to 300k IDR.

  • Why this amount? This covers our basic material and medical-grade setup expenses for a single session.

  • Note: We do not take responsibility for the specific pricing or hourly rates charged by other tattoo studios in other countries.
